A Farm Where Birding Comes Naturally
Out on a farm near Tallahassee, Florida, the morning begins long before sunrise.
For Kade, daily life follows the steady rhythm of caring for animals and working outdoors. His 22-acre farm is home to goats, horses, pigs, and dozens of poultry. Gardening, cleaning pens, feeding animals, and countless small chores fill his days, yet in between these tasks, there is always space for observing the wildlife that shares the land.

Birding fits naturally into that routine. Kade doesn't need to set aside special time for it—watching birds happens in the course of everyday work. While moving between the garden and the coops, topping off water, or checking fences, he notices cardinals flitting among the trees, finches hopping along the ground, and the occasional hawk circling overhead.
“Birding kind of naturally fits into all of that,” Kade shared. “While I’m out doing chores, I’m always noticing the wild birds around the farm.”
A Childhood Tradition That Never Left
Kade's love for birds began in childhood with the Great Backyard Bird Count, a citizen science project his family participated in each year.
He remembers sitting near the bird feeder at his grandparents' house, quietly trying to identify as many species as possible. A family tradition that began as a simple activity—waiting, watching, and noticing small details—grew into a lifelong fascination. Over the years, he learned to recognize subtle differences in plumage, listen for distinct calls, and even anticipate which birds might appear next.
That childhood interest never faded. Today, Kade still participates in the Great Backyard Bird Count, using modern tools to enhance his birdwatching experience. With COOLFLY cameras placed at strategic points across his farm, he can capture photos and videos of the birds that visit his feeders, share sightings with others, and preserve moments that once existed only in memory.

“Technology doesn't replace the joy of birding,” he said. “It simply helps me hold onto moments that might otherwise pass too quickly.”
Peace of Mind on 22 Acres
The freedom of his poultry is part of Kade's philosophy, but it comes with challenges. Hawks occasionally patrol the skies above his farm, and some birds have, unfortunately, become “snacks.” To monitor his flock while he works or steps away, Kade experimented with several cameras. Eventually, COOLFLY became his preferred choice.
With eight devices deployed across the farm, Kade can see and hear his birds in real-time, ensuring their safety while continuing to enjoy the wild birds that pass through. Over time, he began giving each camera a name that reflects not only its location, but also what it means to him and the animals he cares for.
SafeNest is named for his desire to keep his flock protected and secure.
PeaceWatch and Nest of Joy reflect the calm reassurance he feels when monitoring his birds and the happiness that comes from seeing them thrive safely outdoors.
Dr Egg remains one of his most meaningful names. The camera's egg-like shape immediately reminded him of the eggs his poultry lay every day. For Kade, it serves as a small reminder to appreciate and be thankful for the animals under his care.

Then there's Power On, his personal favorite. It earned its name from the camera's cheerful automatic voice prompt announcing, “device is power on” whenever it starts up—a small detail that still makes him smile.
“I love birdwatching,” he said, “so I figured, why not get a birding camera?”
Beyond capturing footage, Kade values practicality. Cameras like Flex or Reelook birdwatching Station are easy to charge, modular, and fit seamlessly into his daily routines make the technology part of farm life, not an extra task. This integration allows him to monitor wildlife, record backyard birding activity, and stay connected to the outdoors even when away from the coop.
The Quiet Awe of Paying Attention
Among Kade's favorite birds are hummingbirds. “Birds are incredible to watch,” he said, marveling at their colors and wing movements. Even familiar visitors can feel extraordinary: a hummingbird flashes past a feeder, hovers briefly, and is gone almost before the eye can follow.

Birding brings Kade moments of calm amidst farm chores. Observing wildlife connects him to the present while evoking memories from his childhood.
“Just being able to sit and watch birds helps me slow down a bit and enjoy what’s going on around me, instead of rushing through everything,” Kade shared.
These pauses—watching the subtle flutter of a wing or listening to a bird call—remind him that attention to detail can uncover wonder in everyday life.
From Birdwatching to Community

Kade's passion naturally extended to online communities. He enjoys seeing what other birders discover, learning from their observations, and sharing his own. From these experiences, he noticed a pattern: people are more willing to participate when spaces feel friendly, welcoming, and supportive.
That belief led Kade to build a COOLFLY-inspired birding forum, where bird lovers can talk about bird behavior, identification, tools, feeders, cameras, games, and anything else connected to the hobby. Readers who would like to explore the space Kade created can visit his forum here: https://coolflyornithology.proboards.com/.
“Helping someone identify a bird, or simply seeing what others are discovering, makes birding even more rewarding,” he said.
This same sense of connection guides COOLFLY's vision. As more birders post photos and share discoveries through the app, COOLFLY is developing an in-app discussion space where users can exchange ideas, ask questions, and celebrate sightings—right where they watch their birds.
For Kade, learning and sharing are central to the birding experience.
“You can discover something new every single day,” he said.
When asked about his ideas for birding cameras, Kade's suggestions all come from real-life farm needs: cameras that automatically alert when unusual activity is detected, identify specific bird calls, or capture photos at key moments. These features echo the themes running through his story: curiosity, care for living beings, and attention to every detail. They also reflect COOLFLY's approach to product innovation and technology.
Whether it's preserving fleeting backyard birding moments or ensuring the safety of his flock, technology enhances Kade's connection to wildlife without diminishing the awe and joy of simply watching birds.
The Beauty of Paying Attention

Kade's story does not hinge on a dramatic turning point. Its strength lies in a quiet, lifelong habit of noticing the world. A family tradition became a lifelong passion; a 22-acre farm became a place to observe, protect, and celebrate birds; and a supportive online community allows these moments to be shared.
Birds are not just visitors—they are companions, teachers, and reminders to slow down, stay curious, and cherish the small, extraordinary moments in everyday life.
